At the International Journal of Civil Engineering and Concrete Structures (IJCECS), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism in any form is a serious ethical violation and is strictly prohibited.
What Constitutes Plagiarism?
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text, figures, or data from other sources without proper citation.
-
Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without acknowledgment.
-
Failing to credit the original source of ideas, methods, or research findings.
-
Reproducing content from the author’s own previously published work without appropriate citation (self-plagiarism).
-
Submitting someone else’s work as one's own, either fully or in part.
Plagiarism Screening Process
All manuscripts submitted to IJCECS are subjected to plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) during the editorial screening process.
-
A similarity index above 15–20% (excluding references and commonly used technical phrases) may lead to rejection or return for revision.
-
Authors will be notified in case of borderline cases and given an opportunity to revise the manuscript.
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage—pre- or post-publication—the following actions may be taken:
-
Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
-
Retraction of the published article from the journal website and indexing databases.
-
Notification of the authors’ affiliated institutions.
-
Blacklisting of authors from future submissions to the journal.
Author Responsibility
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the originality of their work. They are expected to:
-
Properly cite all referenced sources.
-
Avoid reusing content without clear attribution.
-
Submit a plagiarism declaration stating that the work is original and unpublished.
By submitting to IJCECS, authors confirm that the manuscript is free from any form of plagiarism and agree to abide by the journal’s policies on academic integrity.
